Health care
The situation
Mainly for nomads, more specifically for women, children and eldery people, healthcare is often byond reach. The doctor is physically far away, but for most people also far too expensive to be within their reach.

Our locations

For our medical units we have selected two locations in the Darlag area. Both are situated to be reachable for local people during summer as well as winter. Herewith we reach a total of around 50.000 people who lack any level of health care at this moment.
Summer Action 2009
During the summer of 2009 we have made the financial means available for a local, Tibetan doctor to travel around and visit places where in that period many nomads gather. With a car, Tibetan medication and some local assistence, the doctor provided basic medical help to 1840 individuals. The costs were a few euros per patient, including medication.
Based on our experience with this project, we decided to continue this approach in 2010 and if possible extend it. With this (new) approach we left, for the time being, our earlier plan to establish one or more fixed medical posts. Now we focus on mobile help and focus on repeating this, if possible on a larger scale and with specialized doctors.
